Getting it first, getting it right

Staying on top of breaking news and getting that news to you as it happens has always been at the top of our priorities at CNN.com. We make every effort to get the latest developments out as they break, and the new site is going to make it easier than ever before for you to find the newest updates on stories you care about.

One of my favorite changes on the beta site is the prominent use of timestamps on our home page to clearly tell you what stories have been updated most recently. At the top of the stories, you'll be able to see how long ago the last update was posted and the "Story Highlights" section will let you see exactly what the "New" information is. And, now, free live video will be integrated throughout the site, letting you watch events from across the world as they unfold.

One thing that won't change is our commitment to getting you the news fast and accurately, before the competition, from the moment stories first break and as they continue to develop in ways that matter to you.

The timestamps are a treat but they sometimes ruin the formatting of the latest news list on the homepage. I'd rather have an easy-to-scan list than a cluttered and messy one.

I have noticed that when I leave the home page to go to CNN Money or some other story, when I return to the home page, the page is one earlier in the day and I constantly have to refresh it. Is this my computer or what could be the reason?

The best part of the Beta and new site is/will be the video integration. Much easier to watch, faster and the interface was/will be clearer... keep up the good work !

Like your relaunch!!! Now I am back to CNN for news and am sure as you continue to make positive changes it will have more indepth stories of world news and US news with substance and less frivolous fluff. Now I know lots of people want frivolous so give them that but keep the hard news coming for we all must stay informed to be good citizens. Like the video and options for print or video. I am also sure you will have more video accompaniment with print stories for those of us who use both. Birthing a new site is not easy but you are definitely making progress in a positive path.
Thanks for the improvements.

Although the clean design is appealing, the home page has gotten altogether too busy with information. The various sections of the home page visually flow almost boundaryless into one another. I would suggest creating a base page with more minimal/essential news content and then allow users to customize their view to add more bells and whistles as desired. I definitely had an easier time finding what I was interested in on the old site and find the new home page design a bit frustrating and cluttered.
