Webby nomination marks banner year for CNN.com video

As you may have heard, CNN.com was recently nominated for a Webby Award in the broadband category. Obviously, this is a huge honor of which we're very proud - and we hope you feel the same! With that, we are humbly asking for your support by voting for us in the Webby People's Voice Awards, voted on by the general public. Now through April 30th, you can register and vote for your favorite Web sites at http://pv.webbyawards.com ... And if you want to make sure you vote for CNN.com, click the Web site’s icon and select “Broadband” in the dropdown menu, then cast your vote for CNN.com Video!

Last year certainly was a banner year for video at CNN.com in a number of ways, as the first several months of 2009 also have been. On the technology front, we moved to a Flash player so we could give you the best user experience possible. We also heard you loud and clear when you asked for the ability to share video with your friends, so we created an embeddable player for your blogs and Web sites. On the programming side, we had an amazingly busy and challenging year covering one of the most fascinating and historic elections of all time, providing you hours and hours of special coverage across four live streams!

congrats cnn!! i come here for all the news and updates. of course i watch the videos too. there very interesting, thank you for making news easy to find and watch. i like how the videos are broken into categories, like U.S, Entertainment, World, Offbeat, Politics, i Reporters, most popular, cnn tv, cnn-live, and top stories to name a few!! my vote goes to cnn!

You lose my vote because of the Will-I-Am hologram schtick you tried to pull during the presidential elections. That set back the scientific awareness of the American public by a decade while keeping their gullibility in check.

I went to the Webby awards site and got lost (and I have good computer skills), so I couldn't vote for CNN. Give us more detailed directions on how to vote for CNN video and we will!

WOW!!!! a "webby"! That's MUCH better than say a Pulitzer or a Peabody or something.

Thanks CNN for bringing us the best broadband pap out there on the net!

All the best, but now excuse me...i need to go get my news from The NY Times and the BBC.

First, a congrats to CNN.com on the award.

As I read this story and how you faired on the coverage of the Inaugartion, I was asking a simple but fun question.

"Who is clobbering who?" It seems when it comes to the Internet related part of Fox and CNN. It seems you're kicking butt. It appears to be the opposite on the TV portion. For CNN, I'd encourage you to look at the "why". That is, if the reason isn't apparent.

I would love for CNN to keep playing to its real strength and not worry about being "entertaining" as Fox or MSNBC. It seems your real strength is in reporting the news and giving some extra insight into what is going on.

Fox is likely to tell us what's going on; however they're doing so with entertaining personalities. As for MSNBC, I don't watch and am not interested in what appears to be a "Far Left" "news" network.

CNN, please stay Centrist and moderate.
