Mother lives with pain of Neda's death

The mother of Neda, the Iranian woman whose death touched millions, is a grieving woman. My colleague, Octavia Nasr, and I spoke with her a few days ago from her home in Tehran.

I was most struck by Hajar Rostami’s sincerity. I don't speak Farsi, but you could hear the pain in her voice, the pain of a broken-hearted mother trying to live a normal life without her daughter.

She fainted when she first learned Neda was dead. It was interesting to hear her talk about going back to the scene of Neda's death. She counted the steps between Neda's car and where she lay on the ground. There were 26 steps in all. Neda was 26 years old.

On a metaphorical level, those 26 steps represent each year of her life. "Neda has made me enormously proud," the mother said.

God bless you Hajar Rostami. I was deeply moved by your grief. Please know the world's citizens want a peaceful world and your daughter's memory will forever live on striving for that goal. You will have your justice as God's hand is upon you and yours. May peace be yours, the peace that surpasses all understanding.

If there's a place so called "heaven", Neda should be in there right now.

Hajar Rostami stated she hopes Neda's killer will be caught. I sincerely hope so myself, but if not, I truly believe Neda's haunting look of death that was flashed around the world will forever be seared and burned into the killer's brain and memory where he will live a tortured, twisted existance till the day he ignobly dies. May the higher Power bless and keep Neda and her family.

To the mother, your daughter has friends throughout the universe, as for the guilty person who took this young lady's life, may god have mercy upon your soul. Again, to the mother, the world share your pain, God bless you and your family.

Neda is physically no longer with us, but her memory will always remain in our hearts and soul. My heart goes out to her family, but if it is any consolation, Neda is now the symbol of a courageous resurgence that will not die with one or two mere bullets.

The world has lost an angel, Neda! She believed in a peaceful world without dictators wars and violence. She wanted just peace for all of us.
There're no words to comfort the family and the loss of an extraordinaire human being.
Neda will alway be in our hearts.

What an incredibly beautiful woman Neda is. My heart goes out to Neda's mother who courageously shared her loving daughter with us.

We pray that she finds peace in her life but will never never forget her Neda.

Let us all pray that the world Neda believed in will become a reality.

Rest in Peace dear sweet Neda.....you are now with the Lord.

Like Dr. King said;
One purpose for our existence in this world' The effect we have on others lives, during our living moments or at our death. Neda had fulfilled it both ways. What a honorable life one can live............
